Hello Neighbor Is Headed To the Big Screen

Now theHello Neighboruniverse will expand further with a movie adaptation. The news was announced ontinyBuild’s YouTubechannel in a clip that showed a first-person perspective of a merry-go-round in a park with aHello Neighbormask sitting on top. The camera then looks down to reveal a script sitting on the merry-go-round with the titleHello Neighbor: The Movie. The script page also revealed that Tyler MacIntyre is writing the movie with Alex Nichiporchik, the CEO of tinyBuild, and Jonathan Carnage, the co-creator of theHello Neighboranimated series, on board as producers. A director for the film adaptation was not included in the announcement.

MacIntyre is best known for writing theFive Nights at Freddy’smoviefor Blumhouse, which went on to become a massive success at the box office and currently has a sequel in development.Five Nights at Freddy’sandHello Neighborshare some similarities, with both beinghorror games that are suitable for younger players. MacIntyre’s work onFNAFmakes him a great candidate to bring theHello Neighborfranchise to the screen given he has experience in the genre. The movie is being produced by BoulderLight Pictures, which recently released Anna Kendrick’sWoman of the Hour. The studio also worked on 2022’sBarbarian, a film that also shares some similarities withHello Neighboras both movies explore the unexpected secrets of a suburban basement.

Will Hello Neighbor Be An Animated Movie?

TheHello Neighbormovie is still in early development so few details have been announced. One major question still to be answered is whether theHello Neighborfilm will bea live-action adaptation, or stick to the animatedrealm like what the franchise has done with theHello Neighbor: Welcome to Raven Brookscartoon series. The animated series has done exceptionally well for tinyBuild, with the pilot episode gaining over 23 million views on YouTube since its release four years ago.

It also remains to be seenwhich of theHello Neighborgamesthe movie will adapt. The firstHello Neighborfocused on the story of a boy named Nicky, who investigates the secrets of his neighbor, Mr Peterson. However,Hello Neighbor: Hide & Seekrevealed the origin story of Mr Peterson, so perhaps the movie will start chronologically, or find a way to interweave the story of multipleHello Neighborgames.
