Summary

Personafans have been treated pretty well over the last few years. In just this current console generation alone, Sega and Atlus have released multiple, well-received entries in the series, includingPersona 5 Royal, the hack-and-slash spin-offPersona 5 Strikers, the tactical RPGPersona 5 Tactica, and the high-definition remakePersona 3 Reload. This era has also marked thePersonafranchise’s long-awaited debut on non-PlayStation platforms, specifically the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Now that it’s finally available on all modern consoles, Atlus' acclaimed JRPG series has gained more popularity than ever before.

Given how consistently Atlus has releasednewPersonacontent, though, it’d seem likely that the developer would’ve announced a roadmap for the future of the franchise by now; however, that hasn’t happened yet. Currently, very little is known about Atlus' future projects,Persona-related or otherwise. In fact, the only two upcoming titles the developer has unveiled so far areMetaphor: ReFantazioandPersona 5: The Phantom X, the latter of which has yet to be formally announced for a worldwide release. Since Atlus' lineup of content for 2025 is still shrouded in mystery, there’s a pretty good chance that the company will reveal some of its unannounced titles in the near future. With that in mind, fans will want to keep an eye on one upcoming 2024 event: Tokyo Game Show.

Persona Fans Should Keep an Eye On Tokyo Game Show Next Month

Tokyo Game Show is one of the largest and longest-running video game trade fairs in all of Asia. The annual event, which is held at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba, Japan, is set to return next month, from July 10, 2025 to September 29. Even though it’s still several weeks away, most of the attendees for this year’s TGS have already been revealed. Several publishers, including Bandai Namco, Capcom, Inti Creates, Nexon, Square Enix, and evenSony Interactive Entertainment are confirmed to be at the event. More importantly forPersonafans, though, Atlus is also listed among TGS 2024’s many exhibitors.

Atlus Could Have New Announcements to Make at TGS 2024

Atlus' presence at TGS doesn’t come as much of a surprise, since the company has regularly used the convention as a venue to showcase its upcoming titles, whether that be via online presentations or playable, in-person demos. The one thing that makes 2024 different from previous years, however, is the fact thatthePersonaandShin Megami Tenseideveloperdoesn’t have many new games to show off.

Sure, it’s possible Atlus may be attending the event just to give fansanother look atMetaphor: ReFantazioandPersona 5: The Phantom X, but it would be kind of odd for Atlus to host a booth at TGS solely for one or two titles. As such, there’s a decent chance the company may have a couple of games to reveal at Tokyo Game Show, like a newPersonaspin-off or remaster.

If Atlus doesn’t announce any new titles at Tokyo Game Show, then, at the very least, it may formally unveil its plans to releasePersona 5: The Phantom Xworldwide. Considering the fact thatP5Xis currently only available in China and South Korea, if the title does show up at TGS, then that would likely indicate that a Japanese and, therefore, international release is imminent. If nothing else,a WesternPersona 5: The Phantom Xlaunchwould be a great way for Atlus to kick off 2025 and tidePersonafans over until the release of the sixth mainline installment in the franchise, which could still be several years away.
