How To Maximize the Green Rain Event in Stardew Valley
The Green Rain is a pretty rare and unpredictable event that occurs during theSummerseason inStardew Valley. As such, you should regularlycheck the Weather Report on TVto prepare for this event beforehand. Keep an eye out for any unusual weather reports, particularly those mentioning “anomalous readings.” This is a sign that a Green Rain event is coming soon.
Here are a few things you can do to make the most of the special Green Rain event in Stardew Valley.
Gather Moss
One of the first things you can do during the Green Rain event is togather Moss. The Green Rain supercharges the growth of all vegetation, including the moss that typically grows on trees. On the day of the Green Rain event,almost all trees in the Valley will be covered in Moss. You can harvest this Moss using your Scythe or Axe.
Moss is used in many crafting recipes, including Speed-Gro fertilizer,Mushroom Log, andbaits for fishing. While it’s a great opportunity to gather Moss, you don’t have to collect all the Moss on the day of the Green Rain itself and can focus on other resources you need.
During the Green Rain, strange, vine-like trees will spawn around the Valley, especially on your Farm and in Cindersap Forest. When chopped with an Axe, these trees will dropFiddlehead Ferns.
Fiddlehead Fernis a rare forageable items that you will need to complete theChef’s Bundle and Wild Medicine Bundlein the Community Center. They’re the only forageable items that are classified as vegetables and can be turned into Pickles or Juice, or used to prepare theFiddlehead Risotto.
While Fiddlehead Ferns can be picked in the Secret Woods during Summer or in the Skull Cavern, the Green Rain is the perfect time for players to stock up on this valuable resource.
Harvest Green Rain Weeds
Another thing you’ll notice during the Green Rain is an increased number ofWeedsaround the Valley. These weeds can drop valuable resources likeMixed Seeds, Mixed Flower Seeds, andFiberwhen cleared with your Scythe or Sword. Sometimes, a few larger Weeds will spawn that can dropMoss and Mossy Seeds.
The weeds that appear during the Green Rain event are temporary. They don’t damage your crops or other plants anddisappear naturally the next day. So, while you can harvest them for resources, you don’t need to worry about them spreading.
Stockpile Mossy Seeds, Wood, And Fibre
If you really like the Green Rain Trees that spawn during this event, you can plant them usingMossy Seed.You can obtain these seeds byshaking or chopping down the Green Rain Trees. Once you have a Mossy Seed, you can plant it on your farm and wait for it to grow into one of the special Green Rain Tree variations.
You can also get plenty ofWood, a basic building material, by chopping down trees. Moreover, the increased growth of weeds during the Green Rain event provides an opportunity to gather large quantities ofFiber, another essential crafting material. Stockpiling these resources during the Green Rain event can help you be well-prepared for future projects.
Talk To Villagers
Interacting withvillagers inStardew Valleyduring the Green Rain event is a fun way to connect with them and hear special dialogue that you wouldn’t have otherwise. In the Year 1 Green Rain event, most of the villagers stay indoors for protection from the weird weather conditions, exceptLinusandDemetrius.
Linus, the old man, doesn’t mind the Green Rain and stays outside his tent. Similarly, Demetrius, the town’s scientist, roams around the Valley in a yellow hazmat suit, studying the Green Rain. Make sure to talk to them and hear their unique perspectives on the Green Rain.
