WhileStarfieldenjoyed a great deal of initial success, the game hasn’t had the same longevity as other titles from Bethesda.
Starfield’s player count has dwindled dramaticallyin the years since launch. The release of the Shattered Space expansion in 2024 did little to drum up all that much interest in the game, with many criticizing the DLC as being underwhelming. One way that Bethesda can inject new life intoStarfieldis by bringing the game to a new platform, like the PS5, but it seems that won’t happen until 2026 at the earliest, if the latest leaked information is to be believed.
A new report by MP1stclaims thatStarfieldwill be releasing for the PS5 in Spring 2026 alongside its next expansion “and other quality-of-life updates.“Starfieldhas been rumored for the PS5 since Xbox started bringing its games to the competing platform, but nothing concrete has ever materialized. Those hoping to get aStarfieldPS5 port announcement at Gamescom 2025 should also be sure to keep their expectations in check, as MP1st is not expecting the project to be revealed at the show or shadowdropped likeOblivion Remastered.
Starfield Rumored for PS5 in Spring 2026
AfterStarfield’s Shattered Space expansion failed to live up to expectations, it really would be no surprise if Bethesda is taking extra time on the next DLC and the PS5 version of the game.Starfield’s PS5 debut gives the game a second chance at a first impression, and could potentially revive interest in the open world sci-fi RPG.
Even though it has yet to be officially announced, aStarfieldPS5 portis a given. Xbox is bringing its major games to PlayStation, withGears of War: Reloadedset to launch for PS5 on August 26. It has also already brought Bethesda-published games to PS5, likeIndiana Jones and the Great Circle, so it wouldn’t make much sense to withholdStarfieldat this point. There are likely millions of PS5 owners that are fans of Bethesda’s games that would jump at the opportunity to playStarfieldfor themselves, though it is somewhat surprising that they will apparently have to wait until 2026.
