Summary
Fairy Tailis an anime set in a world full of magic and magical creatures. While most of the characters are human, many other species exist, and demons are one example. They arecreatures associated with darknessand appear with classic traits like tails, wings, and horns.
When it comes to the strongest demons, there’s no need to look further than the Etherious. Unlike naturally occurring demons, the Etherious were created by the Black Mage Zeref as he researched black magic. These demons have superior magical and physical abilities and utilize Curses rather than regular magic.
10Keyes
The Black Archbishop
Keyes was an Etherious who was a member of theNine Demon Gates of the dark guild Tartaros, a group of incredibly strong demons created by Zeref. Using his Curse, called Necromancer, he was able to reanimate corpses to fight for him. The greatest example of his power was Silver Fullbuster, who was another member of the Nine Demon Gates.
While his necromancy was powerful, it was his survivability that made him especially fearsome. Keyes' body was made of Magical Barrier Particles, which can contaminate the magic in the air and poison mages. This special constitution allowed his body to behave like mist, avoiding both physical and magical attacks.
9Torafuzar
The Dark
As one of the Nine Demon Gates, Torafuzar was an especially powerful demon with shark-like attributes and an immense body. His Curse was called Tenchi Kaimei, and it allowed him to change the environment, submerging the area in poisonous water. He excelled in underwater combat, which made him a bigger threat.
What made the water poisonous was the high concentration of carbon, and most would die in five minutes after swallowing it. Coupled with his swimming prowess, Torafuzar was able to trap opponents and dispatch them quickly with his bladed arms.
8Jackal
Demon Of Explosions
Of Tartaros’s Nine Demon Gates, Jackal was the most belligerent and destructive, making his debut in the story by single-handedly defeating the entire Magic Council of Ishgar. His Curse allowed him to detonate magical bombs that he could place in numerous ways, and each one was powerful enough to kill a person outright.
Jackal was extremely dangerous due to his natural aggression and sadistic personality. He destroyed and killed for fun and often put people in impossible situations for his own amusement. He most likely has one of the highest body counts out of all members of Tartaros.
7Tempester
The Immortal
Tempester called himself a calamity and for good reason. His Curse allowed him to manifest natural disasters like tornadoes, torrential rains, and wildfires, spreading destruction in a vast area. He was incredibly durable and had high regenerative power.
His biggest strength was his ability to disperse Magical Barrier Particles in a large area. By sacrificing his body, he was able to cover an entire town with a dense, highly toxic cloud of fog that killed over a hundred people within a day and even subduedLaxus, one of Fairy Tail’s strongest.
6Seilah
Goddess Of The Chill Moon
Seilah wasa highly intelligent demonwho was a member of Tartaros’s Nine Demon Gates, and her Curse called Macro allowed her to take control of someone and issue them an absolute order. Using this ability, she was able to take hostages and manipulate her enemies, including blowing up Fairy Tail’s guild through Elfman.
She also harnessed immense curse power, and by removing her limiters, Seilah was able to effectively one-shot Mirajane in her Sitri form. She was only defeated when Mirajane was able to use Macro to issue a surprise attack with Elfman’s help.
5Kyôka
Goddess Of The Slave Planet
As the leader of the Nine Demon Gates,Kyôka was the strongest of the Tartaros’sregular members. Her Curse allowed her to enhance her own body as well as the bodies of her opponents. This could mean continuously increasing her power or amplifying her enemy’s sense of pain. At one point, she even takes away all five of Erza’s senses.
In terms of raw strength, Kyoka was able to destroy Erza’s strongest armor and cause many injuries throughout their fight. Against a normal opponent, her victory would be assured. However, their duel ultimately ends in a draw, and Kyôka only dies due to Minerva’s intervention.
4Mard Geer Tartaros
The Underworld King
Acting as the temporary guild master of Tartaros, Mard Geer took the initiative to gather Etherios to complete their mission of killing Zeref. He had many Curses, but the one he used most was one that manipulated thorn-covered vines. His power level exceeded that of the Nine Demon Gates, which was shown when he subdued and punished Kyoka for her failures.
Mard Geer’s true power came in the form of his most powerful Curse: Memento Mori. This curse was designed to defeat Zeref as it blurred the line between life and death, erasing the target from existence, and making it capable of killing an immortal being.
3Bloodman
The Grim Reaper
As one of the Spriggan 12, Bloodman was one of Zeref’s bodyguards as well as an Etherious brought to life by black magic. He was one of the strongest of Zeref’s creations, which is proven by the fact that many mages died just by being near him due to his body being made of Magical Barrier Particles.
His strength as a demon is further proved by his ability to use the Curses of the members of Tartaros including Mard Geer, Torafuzar, and Jackal. He was able to steal the life force of living things and use his own body to create a portal to the underworld.
2Larcade Dragneel
White Dragneel
Like the other Etherious, Larcade was born fromZeref’s experiments in black magic. Specifically, he was the strongest of many failed attempts to create another E.N.D., which earned him the surname Dragneel. In the rankings among the Spriggan 12, he was ranked the third strongest behind a 400-year-old dragon and Zeref’s actual son.
Larcade’s magic had to do with a human’s basic needs, mainly sleep, hunger, and pleasure, which allowed him to incapacitate his enemies by stimulating those desires. He was able to effectively beat three different guilds by himself. He only died because Zeref wanted him dead.
1Etherious Natsu Dragneel
E.N.D.
As a main character in the story, Natsu has always been very strong, using hisDragon Slayer magic to beat his opponents. However, it wasn’t until the war with Alvarez that his identity as E.N.D. was revealed. E.N.D. is Zeref’s most powerful creation, which was produced while trying to revive his little brother, Natsu.
When using the Curse power he was made with, Natsu becomes much stronger, surpassing the power of the gods. Etherious Natsu was able to move in Dimaria’s distorted time, which she learned from the God of Time. His flames are hot enough to burn all types of magic, even the magic that makes Zeref immortal.
