Summary
Season 2 ofArcaneis finally here and off to an epic start. While the story is still focused on the usual suspects, there are a handful of newArcanecharacters already making their way into the hearts of fans. As with any characters in the series that can seemingly do no wrong, they are all incredibly compelling and make their own unique mark within seconds of being on screen.
Fittingly, there is also a healthy split betweennewArcanecharactersin Piltover and new faces in Zaun, meaning fans have even more reasons to root for both sides in the tragic civil war. Interestingly, however, the characters from Piltover are mostly Enforcers, which means fights have more at stake. While nonewLeague of Legendschampions have appeared in Season 2yet, there were depictions of Janna on the wall, and fans of Warwick will have found the endings of each episode interesting.
5Steb
A Silent Soldier Who Cares More Than You’d Think
When it comes to the new Enforcers and Caitlin’s strike team,Stebis easily the most mysterious, and even after three episodes, little has been revealed about his characteristics. However, when the moment comes, he has his team’s back. Steb is first introduced when he and his Enforcer partner Maddie find Vi and Loris drunk and asleep on the streets. He then plays a part in protecting the councilors when the memorial is attacked.
Although he never speaks, Steb clearly believes more in actions and is the first to run toward and help a man tied up and suspended inEpisode 3. He can then be seen providing the man with medical attention, despite the man’s criminal nature.
4Lest
A New Player Or Pawn In The Politics Of Piltover
Arcanecharacters with interesting appearances aren’t exactly new, as every individual always feels like they bring something new to the table. Lest is yet again another example of this, and after first being asked to leave a room byAmbessain what could have been a minor role, it is revealed that Lest used her acute hearing to spy on the Noxian warlord for her daughter Mel.
It will be interesting to see if Lest continues to be used as a pawn in these political games or if she comes into her own and becomes a player. She is certainly one to keep an eye on, especially with Mel being captured bythe Black Rose.
3Junior Officer Maddie Nolen
A Ray Of Sunshine Midst Doom & Gloom
Positivity after death and destruction can be hard to find, which is why the introduction of Junior Officer Maddie Nolen was so refreshing. Her radiant effect was not only felt by fans within seconds of her being on-screen but also by Vi as she played a part in convincing her to join the ranks.
It’s impressive how the creators made her so endearing in such a short amount of time, and in the same episode, her life is at risk when a Turbo Chemtank pulls her out of a van and dangles her high above the ground. If this had been a random Enforcer, then there wouldn’t have been much at stake, but knowing it was Maddie had fans deeply invested. Junior Officer Nolen, showing herself to be brave and competent, then joined Caitlin’s elite team tasked with rooting out Jinx and shutting down the production of Shimmer. She also appears to be fiercely loyal, as evidenced by the way she welcomed Caitlin’s installment as military leader of Piltover.
2Isha
A Traumatized Orphan Similar To Powder
When Zaun is first seen at the start ofSeason 2, Episode 2 ofArcane, a little girl is on the run from a gang, and she is inadvertently saved by Jinx. The fact that she is wearing a Teemo hat and has big eyes instantly makes her a favorite among fans and the way she follows Jinx suggests she has nobody else.
While at first appearing like she would only be a background character, the girl whose name is apparently Isha, got caught up in an incredibly tense moment and was the only one between the sisters Jinx and Vi. The fact that she was about to shoot Vi to protect Jinx, speaks to the fact that she must have had an incredibly traumatic childhood. In some ways, her character is similar to Powder as a child, and in wanting to protect an older role-model, she nearly killed someone.
1Loris
The Strong Silent Enforcer With Morals
Early on inEpisode 1 ofArcane’ssecond season, Vi is feeling conflicted about her role going forward, and she is angry at Caitlin for asking her to go against her own people. Naturally, the horror at what her own sister did and has become also weighs heavily on her mind. Thankfully, out in the rain, a stranger comforts her, and he also seems to be overwhelmed by grief at the attack. When he first talks and can’t be seen, fans could be mistaken for thinking Vander is back, due to his familiar warm and reassuring voice.
The two of them then attend Mel Medarda’s speech and subsequently fight alongside one another and defend others when the event is ambushed.Loris, as his name is revealed to be in the credits, shows himself to be a great fighter and a natural protector using his shield. Whether he was an Enforcer before or only after this fight is unknown, but he joins Caitlin’s elite strike team all the same. In Episode 3, he then walks out after seeing Caitlin, full of lust for revenge, being given ultimate power. With this decision, he shows himself to be a man of morals and a character to keep an eye on.
