Summary
Discussions are rife among the community about who might be the best and worst Survivors inDead By Daylight. These often heated discussions are usually based on personal experience of the dreaded solo queue, where players are matched with random Survivors. But what exactly constitutes a ‘good’ Survivor? As it is a team-based game, a Survivor is usually seen as ‘good’ if they have been repairing generators, looping the Killer, and trying to help their teammates survive.
Not all Survivors play this way, however, and some have one goal: survive by any means necessary. Escape, particularly as a solo queue player, can be the literal definition of a win. With this in mind, and with the help of statistics provided byNightlight.gg, here is an official list ofSurvivors with the highest escape rates inDead By Daylight.
10Rebecca Chambers
Escape Rate: 43.98%
Rebecca Chambers arrived on the scene inDead By Daylightin August 2022. She comes straight fromanother survival horror game,Resident Evil, alongside The Mastermind and fellow Survivor, Ada Wong.
The young rookie has a low pick rate, but gamers who do choose her as their Survivor seem to escape often. This is most likely because seasoned players are more likely to purchase and play with a licensed character like Rebecca. She comes with altruistic perks that would appeal to those who play with an established team, making it more likely that anyone using this character would escape.
9Gabriel Soma
Escape Rate: 44.4%
Gabriel Soma entered the Entity’s realm in June 2023 with The Singularity. He has an even lower pick rate than Rebecca Chambers, possibly due to his lackluster perks. Made For This is seen in a few perk build rotations, but Gabriel’s other perks aren’t as popular.
Just like Rebecca Chambers, this is a character usually picked by veteranDead By Daylightplayers. Generally, those who choose this skin only like him for his handsome and athletic style. In the game, Gabriel players are generally seen as solid teammates who complete objectives but have no real looping skills. This lack of interest in facing the Killer could account for their high escape rates.
8Ellen Ripley
Escape Rate: 44.58%
Ellen Ripley, from theAlienmovie franchise, was brought toDead By Daylightin August 2023 along with The Xenomorph. As a Survivor, Ripley is popular with horror and sci-fi fans alike, but she still has a surprisingly low pick rate. Despite this, her escape rate is good, and she is generally regarded as a great teammate.
Ripley’s perks appeal to Survivors who like to face the Killer and live to tell the tale. Two of the perks allow the Survivor to stay almost undetectable while in a chase, while Chemical Trap gives them a chance to slow the Killer while looping. While players may not use her perks when playing her, they would be the maindraw for a stealthy but capable player.
7William ‘Bill’ Overbeck
Escape Rate: 44.76%
William ‘Bill’ Overbeck was originally in the zombie survival gameLeft 4 Deadbut made his way toDead By Daylightin March 2017. He has a pretty low pick rate, but players who choose him usually come in one of two categories: a new player with less than 100 hours in the game or a prestige 100, blood-soaked veteran ofDead By Daylight.
Bill is one of the loudest Survivors inDead By Daylightthanks to his constant smoker’s cough. Without this dead giveaway that a Bill is lurking nearby, his escape rate would possibly be higher. Still, Bill comes with agood mix of altruistic and self-perseverance perksthat mean, even when he is down, he is not always out.
6Nancy Wheeler
Escape Rate: 44.96%
Young investigative journalist Nancy Wheeler arrived in theDead By Daylightuniverse with Steve Harrington and The Demogorgon in September 2019. As with most licensed characters, Nancy appeals to players who have either been playing for a long time or who have joined theDBDcommunity as fans ofStranger Things.
Nancy players are generally seen as locker-hopping and cautious, perhaps unfairly so. Her perks do well for solo queueplayers who can’t rely on voice chatas a full team would. Nancy players often use a locker build thanks to Inner Strength, which is particularly helpful when Survivors need to heal themselves quickly and safely.
5Nea Karlsson
Escape Rate: 45.23%
Nea Karlsson came toDead By Daylightas part of the first-ever chapter along with The Nurse in August 2016. This Survivor has a relatively high pick rate for a few reasons. She is part of the base game, so there is no need to pay to use the character, and she has some great cosmetics. Nea is also a fun, rebellious character according to her lore.
Her escape rate is as high as it is possibly because she is such a popular character to use. The more Neas in the game, the more chance there is that one of them will escape. Nea players are seen as quite consistent teammates inDead By Daylight, with skills in flashlight saves and lopping the Killer. Her escape rates could be higher if she wasn’t taking so much heat from the Killer during a match.
4Jane Romero
Escape Rate: 45.52%
Talented celebrity Jane Romero arrived inDead By Daylightalongside The Plague in March 2019. She has a low-to-average pick rate but remains a general fan-favorite due to her fun perks and great cosmetics. She is generally seen as a strong Survivor, so her escape rate is not a surprise.
Jane players are well-loved by Survivors and Killers alike. They tend to be fun to play against and decent teammates due to their love for getting involved with all objectives. Her escape rate could be better if Jane was a quieter Survivor. She is quite loud when she is injured, often giving away her position.
3Cheryl Mason
Escape Rate: 46.6%
Cheryl Mason is a popular Survivorwho was brought in from theSilent Hillfranchise along with The Executioner in June 2020. She has a pretty high pick rate, possibly due to players trying her out to get her perks and then never looking back. Her escape rate reflects how useful she can be in a game, particularly in a ‘Survive With Friends’ (SWF) situation.
Cheryl attracts the sort of player who likes to quietly get the job done and surprise their teammates with late-game clutch moves. She is generally the one who will have a plan and play strategically. If a Cheryl player is in a full team, she is the one who picks the teammates up from being slugged and takes a defensive hit so everyone can escape.
2Haddie Kaur
Escape Rate: 46.86%
Psychic investigator Haddie Kaur arrived in June 2022 with The Dredge after only being part of theDead By Daylightlore. Since grabbing her moment in the spotlight, she has been the choice of a few longstanding players. Although her pick rate is relatively low, her escape rate is excellent, and this is down to being the choice of a certain type of player.
Haddie players are known in the community as ‘Haddie the Baddie,’ a compliment earned thanks to players being quick and capable. She tends to havea flashlight to hand and knows how to use it, but she doesn’t purposefully get herself into much trouble. This probably helps with the high escape rate.
1Ace Visconti
Escape Rate: 51.92%
Ace Visconti may not be the most popular choice forDead By Daylightplayers, but he is the most successful, according to statistics. Lucky poker player Ace arrived in the Entity’s realm in December 2016 with The Hag. His escape rate is the best out of all Survivors this year, but is this all down to luck?
Ace players are considered to be very consistently decent teammates. They nearly always bring Openhanded, which is a great help to other Survivors, and Ace in the Hole can prove to be very useful if the right add-on appears. It is not a surprise that Ace players have a high escape rate; he is one of those characters who never seems to draw a groan from gamers when he enters the lobby.
