Never a stranger to guts or gore, as seen inThe Walking Dead, Greg Nicoterowill bring his years of experience doing incredible special effects makeup for many shows over the last 40 years, with his very first job beginning on George A. Romero’s 1985 film,Day of the Dead.In 1988, Nicotero formed KNB EFX Group, a special make-up effects studio which went on to win an Emmy Award in 2001 forFrank Herbert’s Duneand an Academy Award in 2006 for achievement in make-up forThe Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

To add to the mayhem, I also got to reunite many of the key crew members from the ‘Walking Dead’ universe to help bring this show to life.”

In the new first-look images, Nicotero can be seen leaning over a huge bloated corpse of some kind, with its stomach split open and decomposing gray skin, more than enough to give the most hardened horror fan nightmares. Rob Fox, EVP of production for AMC Networks, previously said, “If you know horror, you know the innovation and creativity that Greg Nicotero brings to the genre. His legendary special effects work has given audiences a fresh and thrilling take on familiar genre staples, from his notorious walkers ofThe Walking Deadto themonsters ofCreepshowand more, never failing to shock and scare,“ Fox continues. “We’re thrilled to continue our longstanding relationship with Greg in bringing his unique concept to life with moments and scenarios that shock, surprise and showcase the depth of this genre.“
