Aspyr has rolled out Update 4 forTomb Raider 1-3 Remastered: Starring Lara Croft, addressing a range of issues and adding a few quality-of-life features. A compilation featuring revamped versions of the first three games in the iconic franchise,Tomb Raider 1-3 Remasteredwas released on multiple platforms in February 2024. Since then, developer Aspyr has regularly updated the title to generally improve the user experience.
One of the more notable updates came in April, just a few months after the compilation was released. Shortly after launch, Aspyr had made a stealth change, removing the pinup posters of Lara Croft usually found at the beginning ofTomb Raider 3’s fourth level. Their disappearance was not mentioned in the patch notes but was quickly noticed by players, and after some outcry, the developerrestored the censored Lara Croft posters toTomb Raider 1-3 Remastered.
Update 4, which was released on November 4, doesn’t make any such drastic changes to the games. Most notably, Aspyr fixed a soft lock that could occasionally happen in theGreat Pyramid inTomb Raider 1, as well as some graphical glitches and FMV stuttering that could occur in a few areas of the games. Skyboxes have been improved, and issues with flares and water not being consistently visible in certain locations have also been addressed.
Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics also recently announced thatTomb Raider 4-6 Remasteredis currently in development, with a release date set for June 21, 2025. This second upgraded compilation will give franchise fans enhanced versions ofTomb Raider: The Last Revelation,Chronicles, andThe Angel of Darkness.It will be available to purchase for $30, and preorders are already open.Tomb Raider 4-6 Remasteredwill be released on PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
