Summary

With the Scarlet Witch out of the picture in the MCU (for now), the focus has shifted to Wanda Maximoff’s children, Billy and Tommy. While there are many projects on the go from Marvel Studios, there is one logical place that the Maximoff brothers could appear next in the MCU.

Wanda’s twins were first introduced to theMCUinWandaVisionafter the Scarlet Witch created a false life for herself using her reality-altering magic. Wanda gave it all up at the end of the Disney+ series but never stopped looking for her children, even seeking them out in other universes inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. InAgatha All Alongit was revealed that Billy and Tommy’s souls survived after Wanda’s hex disappeared, with Billy’s finding a new host inthe body of William Kaplan. Billy also manages to find a new host for Tommy’s soul at the end ofAgatha All Along, with the final moments of the series showing Billy and Agatha setting out to find him.

Vision Quest Is The Next WandaVision Sequel

While the majority of Marvel’s Disney+ series to date have been standalone miniseries,WandaVisionis one of the only MCU series to receive its own spin-off.Agatha All Alongcontinued the storyof Agatha Harkness, a character who was originally introduced inWandaVision, and picked up on many of the plot points and questions left over from the Disney+ show. However, this isn’t the only sequel series spawning fromWandaVision.

Vision is also in line to receive his own Disney+ series. Paul Bettany is set to return as White Vision, who was introduced at the end ofWandaVisionas a rebuilt version of the Avengers synthezoid. After Vision died inAvengers: Infinity War,S.W.O.R.D. collected his body and managed to reactivate it, giving it the mission to kill Wanda and put an end to her hex on Westview. White Vision was distinctive from the original Vision thanks to its new white form and a blue gem that replaced the Mind Stone.

What Happened to White Vision?

In the finale ofWandaVision, White Vision faces off against the original Vision (or at least Wanda’s recreation of him) in the Westview anomaly. Wanda’s Vision managed to defeat White Vision by helping him to re-access his old memories, which could make him the true Vision, rather than a conditional one. Thelast audiences saw of White Visionhe had accepted his identity as the true Vision and disappeared from Westview.

It appears Marvel plans tocontinue this Vision’s storyin his own dedicated series, unofficially titledVision Quest. Bettany is set to return with Terry Matalas (Star Trek: Picard) on board as showrunner. Reports also emerged thatJames Spader would return to play Ultron, and that Todd Stashwick (Star Trek: Picard) had been cast in an undisclosed role. Plot details for the series have been kept under wraps, but rumors suggest it will follow Vision’s search for a new purpose in life.

Vision’s Story Is The Perfect Place to Introduce Tommy

While many upcoming projects in the MCU could explore where Tommy Maximoff ends up, it seems fitting to bring him into the fold inVision Quest. If the plot of the new series explores Vision’s quest for a new purpose, what better purpose could he have than to reunite with his long-lost son? In the same way thatAgatha All Alonghelped shepherd Billy Maximoff’s story to the screen,Vision’s series could do the same for Tommyand would allow the character to be introduced away from his brother before the twins eventually reunite.

Some rumors about theVisionseries suggest this may already be in motion. Industry insider Daniel RPK reported recently thatMarvel Studio was casting an 18-20-year-old actorto be one ofVision Quest’sco-leads. While it’s still just a casting rumor at this stage, the age of this supposed new character would fit the bill of Tommy Maximoff. In the comics, Tommy (who isreborn in the body of Thomas Shepherd), is a troubled teenager from a broken family who ends up being imprisoned after a mishap with his powers vaporizes his high school. This story could easily be incorporated into Vision’s series. Perhaps the synthezoid’s new purpose could be to mentor or become a father figure to Tommy, making the realization that they are related an even more cathartic moment.

Given the wayAgatha All Alongended, it seems like Marvel Studios is preparing tointroduce Tommy on-screen, whether that be in his own solo series or an Agatha All Along sequel. However, it seems to make the most sense that Tommy would be integrated into aWandaVisionsequel, which Vision’s Disney+ show will be.

Vision Questis currently in development and is aiming to be released in 2026.
