Summary

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for the return of Spider-Man, and there are plenty of exciting additions to the cast ofSpider-Man: Brand New Day, with The Punisher and The Hulk. However, there is one character from theSpider-Versethat people would like to see involved in the MCU at some point in the future, which is Miles Morales.

He’s one of the big characters that fans are keen to see in the MCU, as he would bring something fresh to theSpider-Manworld in this setting. Morales is one of the most popular characters from theSpider-Manfranchise, and while fans have been able to enjoy his character in the animated Spider-Verse movies, he’s yet to make his debut in the live-action world.

Unfortunately for fans of Morales, that’s not something that’s going to change anytime soon. People who are keen to see a version of this character brought to life to play off Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will be disappointed with the latest update that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has provided during a recent press conference (viaTHR).

Sony has their brilliant, genius, incredible Spider- Verse animated franchise going and until that finishes, we’ve been told to stay away.

This is obviously not the update that manySpider-Manfans had been hoping for, but the relationship between Sony and Marvel Studios is a complex one that allows for certain characters to be used in specific ways. It was recently revealed thatKingpin cannot be part of any MCU movies, nor can Spider-Man be involved in any of Marvel’s television projects on Disney Plus, which is something that Feige and his team have to navigate when using the popular webslinger.

The Punisher and The Hulk are set tojoinSpider-Man: Brand New Day, though, which will at least inject fresh characters into that world. Meanwhile,Sadie Sink has also joined the cast of the upcoming Marvel movie in an unknown role. However, there is no denying the growing popularity of Morales as a character, which has only risen since theSpider-Versemovies and his involvement in the popular PlayStationSpider-Manvideo games. Still, it’s easy to see from Sony’s perspective why they would want to keep Morales exclusive to them, as the character is a genuine draw that they can use to lure fans to watch their movies moving forward. Sony still needs to operate as a business, and keeping certain characters for themselves is one way of protecting that.

Of course, the situation between Sony and Marvel Studios is fluid, and things are constantly changing, which will continue to be the case moving forward. The relationship has worked out well so far, allowing MCU fans to experience the Spider-Man role as performed by Holland, who has done so well. However, people naturally always want more, especially when it’sa fun character like Morales. In the future, things might change, allowing Sony to use the character. However, that time is not now; therefore, fans should lower their expectations heading intoSpider-Man: Brand New Day, which is set to be released on Jul 10, 2025.
