Modern Warfare 3Zombies offers a wide-open sandbox where players can drop into Urzikstan and complete a wide variety of contracts, but the game also offers a linear story that players can progress through in the form of Story Missions. Each of theseMissions yields their own lucrative rewards, some of which take the form of strange relics.
Among the long line of relics isthe Drum, a rather random item that players can acquire. While not entirely tied to one of the Story Missions inModern WarfareZombies, it can first be acquired by completing one, along with countless other relics that are required to be used alongside it.
How To Get The Drum
The Drum is a relic that can beobtained from the Reward Riftuponcompleting the Act 4 Story Mission: Countermeasures. The mission itself can be started by players who head on over tothe Anomaly on the north side of Old Town(F4 on the tac map), the location of which should be marked once players have the Countermeasures mission active.
Before heading to the rift, players should ensuretheir weapons are Pack-A-Punchedto at least Tier 2 or higher and upgraded with a Rare Aether Tool or better, as the enemies within the Countermeasures Rift will be equivalent to those in the Tier 2 Zone.
Once players have started the mission, they can progress through the mission’s linear objectives. These objectives consist of playersescorting an ACV across the exclusion zoneand overcoming a few challenges along the way. Here is a breakdown of all the challenges players will face whilst escorting the ACV, along with how to complete them:
Investigate/Eliminate The Source Of The Signal Disruption
To complete this objective, players will need tohead to the UAV tower just to the right of the ACV. Interacting with the UAV tower willspawn an electrified Mimic, one which will need to be eliminated to get the ACV operational.Much like all other Mimics, firing at the monster’s glowing mouth will provide consistent critical hits, allowing players to dispatch it quickly. Once the Mimic has been defeated, players can then return to the ACV.
Clear The Infected Spores From The Mall
When instructed to head to Fletcher’s last known location, players will find themselves in a mall. Here, they need todestroy 15 spores. The Death Perception Perk will be invaluable for locating each spore, and players shouldcollect the provided Gas Masksto avoid losing health and armor plates. Once players have cleared each spore, they will be free to head back to the ACV.
Outlast
The next objective is similar to the Outlast Contracts found throughout Urzikstan. After escorting the ACV to its final location, players mustactivate a PND devicejust ahead of the ACV and stay within the area, eliminating Zombies until the device is fully charged.
Defeat Krawvlr
Once the Outlast objective is completed, players will need to defeat Krawvlr, an electrified buffed Mangler sporting a unique AoE attack. To take down this enemy quickly, aim for the boss’s right arm when it charges up to inflict significant critical damage, along with canceling the boss’s ranged attack.
Upon defeating Krawvlr, aReward Riftwill appear near a Rift Portal, containing the Drumand some other lucrative rewards. After looting this key item, players can head through the Rift Portal to extract from the exclusion zone.
The Drum functions just like any other Acquisition, and so players can store it in their Acquisition Stash and bring it into another deployment.
What To Do With The Drum
Much like many relics before it, the Drum isone of four keysneeded toopen a Dark Aether Rift located on the northeastern side of Old Townwithin the Tier 3 Zone (G4 on the tac map). To use it, players mustplace the Drum on the corresponding Rift Pedestalin the area. To fully open the Rift Portal, players must also obtain Tattered MMA Gloves, a Perforated Target, and a Pristine Mirror, upgrade each of these items to gold, and place them on their respective Rift Pedestals alongside the Drum.
