Summary

After just over a year of waiting following its initial Game Awards announcement in December 2022,Hades 2officially launched into early access, hitting Steam in May of this year. ThoughHades 2is definitely not finished, fans were shocked to find out just how much content was available on day one, with seven locations to explore, seven bosses to defeat, five weapons to unlock, and a plethora of Boons to acquire.

But while eager fans have already dropped tens of hours intoHades 2, it’s still got a long way to go before it’s the gamedeveloper Supergiantwants it to be. Supergiant has spent the last few months delivering a consistent stream of updates and patches, and there’ll be plenty more where that came from beforeHades 2’s eventual launch in 2025.

What Fans Can Expect From Hades 2’s Full Release

Hades 2’s Patches Have Already Added a Lot to the Game

Since May, developer Supergiant has delivered a total of four sizable patches. Each of these patches has made some important balancing changes, removed elements that didn’t quite work, and added a wealth of new content. Some of the biggest changes include improvements to protagonist Melinoe’s movement, some major changes to the Daedalus Hammer Boon, and increased damage for the Sister Blades when striking enemies from behind. With the delivery ofHades 2’s third patch, Supergiant said that it would be moving away from doing regular patches to instead focus on the game’s first major update, which was detailed in the game’s early roadmap.

Hades 2’s First Major Update Is Set to be a Huge One

Upon booting upHades 2for the first time, players were greeted with a screen that thanked them for participating in the game’s early access period, followed by a general roadmap forHades 2’s first major update. In this first major update, Supergiant is planning to add an entirely new region to the game, along with new enemy types and characters exclusive to it. A new, sixth weapon will also be added, alongside a few new Weapon Aspects for it. And finally, Supergiant plans on adding Crossroads customization toHades 2, which will allow players to change the appearance of the game’s hub area.

There’s currently no firm release date forHades 2’s first major update, but Supergiant has repeatedly said it’ll land in 2024. This means fans probably won’t have to wait too long before they see what Supergiant’s been cooking.

Hades 2’s Future is Bright But Uncertain

Hades 2is already a surprisingly great game, even with its story unfinished, some of itscharacters missing artwork, and one of its regions ending far too abruptly. And with the addition of its first major update,Hades 2is going to be an even greater force to be reckoned with. The future is looking very bright forHades 2, but beyond that major update, fans are a little unsure of what they can expect from the game.

As of the time of writing,Hades 2is still targeting a2025 release window, though there’s been no indication of when in the year it could drop. There’s also been no confirmation of when future major updates will be dropped, though there will likely be at least one more before the game’s full release. Fans are also unsure ifHades 2will launch on consoles the day of its full release, or if it’ll wait a little while like the first game did.
