Although it may be a sequel to a critically acclaimed role-playing game,Path of Exile 2is not a mere replica of its predecessor. It is, in fact, considerably different from the originalPath of Exile, in more ways than one. WithPath of Exile 2, Grinding Gear Games decided to take a more beginner-friendly approach to game design. Some of the gameplay mechanics in the firstPath of Exile, like the respec system, skill gems, and equipment modification, have been adjusted to be easier to understand in the sequel. The number of boss fights, meanwhile, has increased significantly inPath of Exile 2. The game not only incentivizes players to take on these challenging foes, but also encourages them to use a wide array of skills and weapons when doing so.
Perhaps one of the biggest changes that Grinding Gear Games made toPath of Exile 2, though, was the removal of the utility flask. In the originalPath of Exile, players could use a rechargeable potion known as a flask that could grant them some mana, recover their HP, or enable temporary powers. While someflasks did make a return inPath of Exile 2, the ones that could provide specific abilities, a.k.a. the utility flasks, were not added to the game. The absence of these potions means that one ofPath of Exile’s most significant items, the Mageblood, will likely not be coming toPath of Exile 2anytime soon.
The Mageblood Belt Probably Won’t Be Added to Path of Exile 2 Anytime Soon
The Mageblood is a Special Belt in Path of Exile That Makes Utility Flasks More Powerful
If there’sone item inPath of Exilethat has stirred up a lot of discussion among fans, it’s the Mageblood. This unique heavy belt may not be a particularly good-looking item, but the benefits it unlocks can provide incredibly overpowering results with the right player builds. Magebloods, for those who are unaware, have a handful of different abilities that can boost the effectiveness of utility flasks. The way that the belts work, however, is a bit confusing.
When they are wearing a Mageblood, players cannot use anymagic utility flasksthat they currently have equipped. However, thanks to the abilities of this belt, they can constantly apply the effects of their leftmost utility flasks without outright using them. While this may sound like a bad thing at first, there is an important distinction to note here: applying the effects of a flask does not count as using said flask. Players with a Mageblood don’t have to spend flask charges in order to use their leftmost flasks anymore, and because of this, the belt makes it a lot easier to take advantage of their perks.
The Mageblood does not prevent players from using Normal and Unique flasks, nor does it prohibit them from consuming Life, Mana, and Hybrid flasks, as well.
With Some Enchantments, the Mageblood Can Make Utility Flasks Up to 95% More Effective
Magebloods normally give utility flasks a 25% increase in effectiveness. However, if a player uses flasks with the Alchemist’s prefix andenchants them using an Enkindling Orb, they can get effects that are nearly 70% more powerful. These enchantments, combined with the existing 25% stat boost that the Mageblood already offers, can make utility flasks up to 95% more effective, while still having 100% uptime. With the Ruby Flask, for instance, players can get 97% fire resistance with the Mageblood equipped. Meanwhile, with the Aquamarine Flask, they can reduce the Effect of Freeze by 117%.
Magebloods Are Really Hard to Get in The First Path of Exile
Since they can drop from pretty much any place inPath of Exile, Magebloods may seem easy to obtain to the average gamer. However, they are actually incredibly hard to find. Magebloods have a drop level of only 75, and while they can be crafted using certain recipes, the materials needed to make the belts are not that simple to come across. To this day, Magebloods are considered to be one ofthe most useful and expensive items inPath of Exile, with many players still selling them for several hundred Divine Orbs in each league. While some gamers are not fond of the Mageblood and are glad that it wasn’t added toPath of Exile 2due to its powerful nature, it would’ve been nice to see the item make a return in some capacity, despite the absence of utility flasks.
