This post contains spoilers for Naruto.

Masashi Kishimoto’sNarutois one of the best-selling manga series of all time. The manga has retained its popularity even almost a decade after its conclusion, which is a testament to its quality. Once the story ended, fans made peace with the fact that they will not see their favorite characters again. However, it didn’t take long for a sequel to be announced. While it did put fans' minds at ease temporarily, they soon realized that Boruto is not what they wanted.

Boruto Has Been Labeled A Flop

Despite their initial apprehensions, Naruto fans decided to give Boruto a whirl. The start was positive, but it soon became clear that the series wouldn’t be able to fill the void left by Naruto. Things took a turn for the worstwhen fan favorites like Naruto and Sasukewere sidelined by the author in favor of the new protagonists. While it’s understandable that the new blood needed a chance to shine, the author’s way of handling Naruto and Sasuke was rather questionable.

The anime didn’t do itself any favors by releasing an obnoxious number of filler episodes, which only enraged fans further. The Boruto anime finally ended in 2023, and it won’t be an exaggeration to say that a lot of fans were happy. After the conclusion of the anime, there were many debates about the series' future, but so far there hasn’t been an official update.

Studio Pierrot Should Work On A Naruto Remake

The Naruto Remake Will Rekindle Fans' Interest

One of theoptions that Studio Pierrot can take isto remake the entirety of the Naruto series. While the original adaptation is not bad, there are many glaring weaknesses that can easily be overcome with a remake. The biggest advantage of a Naruto remake is that there won’t be any more fillers. The first part of Naruto mostly had canon material, with an acceptable number of filler episodes. However, the second part was full of fillers, which ultimately ruined a fantastic series. Even in the Fourth Great Ninja War arc, there were a ton of fillers, and it looked obvious that the studio wanted to milk the anime as much as possible.

Another positive of a remake is the possibility of watching the anime with a better quality of animation. The original anime is not bad by any means, but at the same time, it is nowhere near the newer projects. A person who has watched Solo Leveling, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War won’t be happy with Naruto’s quality.Studio Pierrot could even take thesame approach that it took with Bleach. The original Bleach is good, but the Thousand-Year Blood War is on an entirely different level. The latter has been produced by Pierrot Films, which is currently working on the final part. Once Pierrot Films wraps up production on Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, then the studio will be free to work on other projects.

Sasuke in the spotlight in the Boruto anime

If Studio Pierrot prioritizes a Narutoremake over the Boruto anime, it will certainly be better for the studio. The viewership will increase, and fans will be more supportive of the project. Does this mean the remake will be greenlit? No. But will it be under consideration at the studio? Yes. Studio Pierrot wouldn’t want to pass up the opportunity, that’s for sure.

Will The Boruto Anime Return?

The Boruto Anime Might Make A Comeback In 2026

As previously stated, there has been no news about the future of the Boruto anime, but it’s highly unlikely that it will be canceled altogether. Studio Pierrot might be waiting for the manga to release enough that it can adapt into the anime. The studio will want to avoid the mistakes that it made while making the first part. Recently, Studio Pierrotconfirmed that Black Clover Season 5 is inproduction. Before the announcement, most fans had accepted that they might never see another season again. Thankfully, Studio Pierrot proved them wrong.

Keeping this in mind, it’s possible that the studio will reveal details about the Boruto anime in the coming months. Usually, big announcements are saved for Jump Festa, and there is one happening towards the end of the year. That’s when Studio Pierrot might reveal the future of the Boruto anime.
