Relics are one of the three magical items players can equip to complete their loadouts inWitchfire. They come imbued with elemental effects and passive abilities that can significantly impact enemy engagements. From calling down heavenly lightning to cursing and igniting enemies, relics add another layer of combat mechanics that encourage players to experiment with different combinations based on their gameplay playstyle.
Whilesome classes come with relics unlocked, players will mostly have to reach level 20 before they can start researching all the relics. This gives players ample time to try out every single relic to find their favorite. Remember that the right relic with the right weapons and spells can drastically change how a build performs inWitchfire. Someone interested in a Decay build will not want to waste a slot by equipping the Severed Ear for example. Here is how every relic ranks inWitchfirebased on its impact on combat.
Knock Back Enemies With Each Reload
How to Get
Found on the upper floor of the Gnosis room in the Hermitorium (Requires Gnosis 3)
Element
None
The Severed Ear can prove to be an underwhelming relic most of the time. It creates a shockwave to knock back enemies when players reload their weapons. While that works well tostun enemies in a radius, the last thing players want is to reload their weapon mid-fight just for the sake of activating the relic.
The Severed Ear falls low on our list for that reason. Other relics inWitchfireoffer more value in comparison. That said, the Severed Ear proves to be pretty powerful against familiars or major enemies when combined with a shotgun such as the Echo.
Empty the clip and then keep firing as soon as a new shell is reloaded. This continuously triggers a shockwave to keep the enemy stunned. However, players will still have to make sure they are not getting surrounded because of the single-target focus.

Earth (Decay)
The Book of Serpents is another powerful relic to unlock inWitchfire. It afflicts enemies with Decay after they land an attack, including a chance to instantly kill both minor and major enemies after reaching the Third Mysterium. While a powerful passive skill on paper, the whole point ofWitchfire’srogue-lite gameplay is to not get hit. With a limited number ofHealing Elixirs per expedition, it is best if players do not trigger the Book of Serpents, which automatically reduces its usefulness.
Cause Lightning Bolts That Arc Between Enemies
Looted from the Island of the Damned Vault (Requires Gnosis 2)
Air (Lightning)
The Kirfane relic is highly dependent on the weapon players use. It shoots a lightning bolt that arcs between multiple enemies after players have landed multiple shots. The only way to get the most use out of this relic is to combine it with automatic weapons such as the Ricochet, Midas, Rotweaver, or Cricket. Any other weapon would otherwise require too many bullets, and since ammunition is scarce inWitchfire, the right weapon means saving precious ammo with the Kirfane.
Fourth relic researched via the Workshop
Fire (Burning)
The Painted Tooth is a fan-favorite relic that many players like to use inWitchfire. It ignites enemies when they receive a critical shot at full health. This makes the relic perfect for the Hunger hand cannon, one of thebest weapons inWitchfire.
Furthermore, igniting enemies the first time deals bonus damage, which is significantly more against major enemies. The stacking damage with Painted Tooth means playerstake a good chunk of the enemy’s health with the first shot.
Painted Tooth also pairs excellently with the All-Seeing Eye, which similarly does increased damage to enemies at full health.
Fire is apowerful element inWitchfirebecause burning enemies take more damage than normal. Hence, players can get some excellent use out of the Painted Tooth early on until they unlock the Burning Stake, which automatically ignites all enemies in a large area.
Third relic researched via the Workshop
Blood of a Banshee is one of the few relics inWitchfirethat go well with almost every weapon or loadout. It forces enemies to explode to damage and ignite nearby enemies. However, players must perform overkills to trigger the relic, which means doing more damage than required to finish an enemy.
While there are several weapons, especially sniper rifles, that do insane critical damage, players will find the most use of the Blood of a Banshee with the Echo shotgun. The Echo already does massive fire damage with each shot, ensuring overkill every time. The next enemy, thanks to Blood of a Banshee, will take double the damage, meaning players can punch through major enemies easily.
Remember that frozen enemies explode when ignited, creatingoverkill chain reactions to delete all enemiesin an area. So do not be afraid of combining the Echo and Banshee’s Blood with an ice spell.
Freeze Melee Attackers to Restore Lost Health
Behind a mirage before the southwestern gates of Irongate Castle (Requires Gnosis 3)
Water (Freezing)
The Braid of a Seductress is one of the best relics for players to improve their defenses and survival chances inWitchfire. It reduces all incoming melee damage while freezing any enemies who land a successful melee attack. Even better, killing these frozen enemies restores 50 percent of lost health, which also works against major enemies after upgrading the relic to the Third Mysterium.
Whencombined with freezing Arcanassuch as Shattered Soul, Refreeze, and Snowball, the Seductress' Braid triggers to mass-freeze almost every enemy in the area. This becomes multiple frost explosions with the Burning Stake because fire immediately unfreezes enemies to activate the Arcanas, allowing players to clear entire hordes.
Considering the health regeneration and if players use thepowerful Ice Sphere, death becomes nearly impossible inWitchfire.
First relic researched via the Workshop
The Eye of the Madwoman is the perfect relic to farm enemies inWitchfire. It strikes enemies with lightning bolts when their health drops to a certain threshold. Hence, players have to just do enough damage to whittle enemies down before leaving the relic to finish them off.
Do not equip the Eye of the Madwoman when leveling weapons. Kills made by the relic do not count towards the Mysterium requirements.
The Eye of the Madwoman peaks whenplayingWitchfireon higher Gnosis, especially against major/ascended enemies with large health pools. Use an elemental heavy spell to burn or decay enemies in an area and see the low-health enemies get zapped by the relic. When facing major or ascended enemies with large health pools, players get to save a lot of ammunition because the Eye of the Madwoman strikes them down for significant damage.
The relic also gives players an additional element to combine. They can main the Burning Stake and Blight Cyst, for example, but each lightning bolt from the Eye of the Madwoman further activates an elemental combination.
