Summary
World of Warcrafthas beena major contender in the MMO genrefor decades now, and it doesn’t seem to be going away anytime too soon. In fact, it is so popular that they were able to create a classical version of the game where players can relive past expansions.
While playing the game, players will be able to find different Battle Pets, which can be used to battle other players. Additionally, some of these pets are a lot rarer and more expensive than others (just like the rare mounts). Here are some of the rarest ones from the classical era (this includes bothWorld of Warcraft Classicand the 2004-2006 eraWoW).
5Engineering Profession Pets
An Absolute Grind To Obtain
The profession pets are some of the hardest pets to get in the game. While there are some that are easier than others, they all require that players grind up levels to get to the point where they are able to create the creatures. While there are several professions in the game, the Engineering Profession is the only one that allows players to create Battle Pets.
What makes these pets rare is that players first need to be a high-level Engineer, or they need to know someone who is (which is tough, even in theSeason of Discoveryevent). Then, they will need to find the Schematics for them, which can either be random drops or from specific quests. After that, they will need to find all the required materials for the Battle Pets, which could be difficult things. Finally, they are ready to obtain their pet.
4Various Whelplings
All Variations Have .05% Chance Of Dropping
There are three different colored Whelplings that can be dropped inWoW Classic: Crimson Whelpling, Dark Whelpling, and Emerald Whelping. Each one of these pets has the same chance of dropping. The Crimson Whelping is found in Red Whelps in the Wetlands; the Dark Whelping drops from Black Whelps in the Badlands, and the Emerald Whelping drops from the Green Whelps in the Swamp of Sorrows.
What makes these pets so rare is that they only have a .05% chance of dropping, and each one only drops from specific colored Whelpings in very specific areas. This means that players will need to ensure that they are hunting the correct Whelplings in the correct areas. These can be sold on the Auction House, which will help players obtain them as well.
3Hyacinth Macaw
.01 % Chance Of Dropping
The Hyacinth Macaw was known for being the rarest of all the pets inWorld of Warcraftduring the classic days, and it still is pretty rare. To obtain this pet, players would have to camp out at Stranglethorne Vale and kill everything in sight. The pet can drop from any Bloodsail enemy within the area and can be sold at the Auction House for quite a steep price.
The reason that these pets are so rare is because they only have a .01% drop rate. That is the lowest drop rate of any pet in the classical era, meaning that this pet was the rarest in terms of finding it. Players could spend weeks in Stranglethorne Vale and never even find a single one, making it a pet that a lot of players only dreamed of owning.
2Classic WoW’s Collector’s Edition Pets
Still Obtainable At A Very High Price
This entry is technically three different pets rolled into one. During the original era of Classic WoW, players could purchase the Collector’s Edition of the game, and just like with current Collector’s Editions, it came with a whole host of interesting additional items. Three of these items were the Zergling, Mini Diablo, and Panda Cub. These interesting Battle Pets are some pretty popular pets that players have been wanting to obtain for some time now.
The main reason that these pets are so rare is that they were only available for players who purchased the Collector’s Edition of the original game back in 2004. Since then, they haven’t really popped back up anywhere, meaning players would need to purchase one of those editions of the game that hasn’t been used before if they want to be able to obtain the pets today. A quick search on eBay shows just how unlikely it is to obtain one.
1Poley
The Coca-Cola Bear In Mainland China
Poley is probably the rarest pet inWorld of Warcraft, period. This polar bear may have the exact same model as the Baby Blizzard Bear that was released not too long after this pet was released, but it is a completely different pet for some pretty interesting reasons. To begin with, this was available via an iCoke promotion within Mainland China only, meaning there were very few people who had a chance to obtain the pet. In fact, it was actually something that coincided with the release ofWoWin China.
What sets this Battle Pet apart from all others is that players who own the pet claim that it will sometimes sing or hum the Coca-Cola theme song. While this cannot be confirmed or denied due to how rare this Battle Pet is, it would be pretty amazing to have a polar bear following a player around while singing the theme song. Even if this isn’t true, the fact that there is such a mysterious air around this pet makes it interesting. Between the fact that the pet wasn’t available outside of Mainland China and to only a select few makes this the rarest pet in the franchise.
