However, this new update is introducing a cross-faction quality-of-life update that many fans have been requesting for a long time. Starting in Patch 11.0.7, cross-faction groups with a full five players will be able to use the Group Finder LFG tool to enter dungeons together. This means full, cross-faction groups will soon be able to queue into random dungeons, Timewalking events, or even specialholiday battles inWorld of Warcraftlike the Headless Horseman.

This update will not allow partial cross-faction groups of less than five players to queue into dungeons and fill their extra spots with others. Additionally, should one of the party members leave, the empty spot will not be replaced. As Follower Dungeons rely on having empty spaces in a party, it is unlikely that cross-faction groups will be able to use this feature yet – even though theWorld of WarcraftNPCsthemselves come from both the Alliance and the Horde.

Cross-faction play first came toWorld of WarcraftinShadowlandsPatch 9.2.5. Since then, it has eased restrictions in several ways, including with the addition of cross-faction guilds in Patch 10.1.World of Warcraftproduction manager Michael Bybee confirmed plans to addfull-party cross-faction LFG soon after the launch ofWoW: The War Within, and it seems like those dreams are becoming a reality in the next content update.

Reception to this change is positive among the majority of fans. Many have been asking for the ability to use the Group Finder with Alliance and Horde players for years, especially since events like Timewalking Dungeons are currently inaccessible to cross-faction groups. That said, some fans are still upset that this feature requires a full group, and would love to see an optional toggle for the Group Finder to enable cross-faction LFG. Though some players are vehemently against the idea, if comments regarding this new feature are any indication, most seem to think optional cross-faction LFG is thenatural evolution ofWorld of Warcraftfrom both a story and gameplay perspective.
