In early 2025,World of Warcraftis bringing back Plunderstorm– but with some significant changes to the rewards system. Rather than progress through a Renown track with set rewards at certain milestones,World of Warcraftis introducing the Plunderstore. This shop allows fans to spend the Plunder that previously increased their Renown score on individual items in any order, letting them focus on the cosmetics they are most excited about first. At present, it is unclear if this new system will change the income of PlunderWorld of Warcraftfans gain through actual games of Plunderstorm, but it can be assumed that the store currency will still be a 1:1 ratio to what is earned during a match.According to the costs discovered by Wowhead, players will need 39,000 Plunder in order to purchase all the new rewards coming during this run. To put this number into perspective, fans needed 100,000 Plunder to reach Renown 40 during Plunderstorm’s first run. That said, the old rewards now only add up to about half that amount in the Plunderstore, meaning it may be easier for players to get anything they missed on the first run.

During its first iteration, fans could easily earn 1000 to 1500 Plunder simply by completing their daily quest. All Plunder gains were doubled during the last two weeks of the event, making it even easier to earn all of the rewards. If thePlunderstorm Plunder rate stays the same duringWorld of Warcraft’s second run, even casual players should have no problem picking up all of the new rewards.

Reception to this change has been overall quite positive. While fans of Plunderstorm would undoubtedly have earned every reward regardless, players who didn’t enjoy the game mode, but wanted to collect items from it, will now be able to skip over cosmetics that don’t interest them. It seemsWorld of Warcrafthas learned from its first run of Plunderstormand is gearing up to make its second iteration even better.
