InDragonflight,World of Warcraftintroduced the Dracthyr, a race of draconic combatants that were restricted to the Evoker class, focused on channeling the power of the five types of dragons in battle. After nearly two years of speculation,WoWrecently confirmed more classes would be available for Dracthyrat some point afterThe War Withinis released.
Now,World of Warcrafthas shown off its first official teaser for these Dracthyr class options. It recently released a new WoWCast episode focused mainly on dungeons, delves, PvP, andraids inWoW: The War Within. Keen-eyed players noticed that, on one of the Warbands character selection screens shown during the video, one of the Dracthyr was dual-wielding two-handed axes – a feat only possible by Fury Warriors – marking the first official debut of a non-Evoker Dracthyr. Fans can spot this hero around the campfire at the 1:38 mark during the WoWCast episode.
Dracthyr Warrior Sighting in The War Within WoWCast
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time a Dracthyr with items they can’t normally equip has appeared on the Warbands character selection screen. When theWorld of Warcraftfeature was first introduced at BlizzCon 2023, one of the four characters in the Warbands mockup image was a Dracthyr wearing leather armor, despite Evokers being a mail class. Though this was initially confirmed to be an oversight, Blizzard later opened up new classes for Dracthyr anyway, so it is possible the teaser during the WoWCast episode was an intentional nod to the previous instance.
At the moment, players don’t know exactly when the Dracthyr class expansion will arrive. However, the inclusion of the Dracthyr Warrior in this video suggests it may be further along in development than originally thought. With luck,World of Warcraftmay add these options inThe War WithinPatch 11.0.5, which is currently expected to arrive in October or November, though it could just as easily arrive next year in 11.1 or later.
Either way, fans can be happy knowing Dracthyr will soon be able to play almost any class in the game. While Death Knight, Druid, Paladin, and Shaman are up in the air at the moment, and Demon Hunter is off the table,Dragonflightmade the otherWorld of Warcraftclasses universally available, so Dracthyr will probably be able to choose them. Hopefully, players will learn precisely which classes Dracthyr can pick in an official announcement soon.
